Odeal turned NPR’s Tiny Desk into a cozy living room session, FaceTiming his mom front and center as he poured soulful grooves from his latest EP The Summer That Saved Me and standout cuts like “Wicked,” “Free Me” and “Soh-Soh.” His smooth, intimate set—shaped by years of fine-tuning since debuting in 2017—felt both deliberate and warmly spontaneous.
Backing him was a crack band led by music director Omar Grand on keys, plus guitar, sax, percussion and three background vocalists, all captured by a top-notch Tiny Desk crew. It’s a perfect snapshot of Odeal’s knack for blending British-Nigerian flair with laid-back soul.
