The Doobie Brothers brought decades of hits and fresh energy to NPR’s Tiny Desk, kicking off with “Takin’ It to the Streets” in an intimate office setting that outdid their stadium gig the night before. Celebrating 50+ years and a reunion-fueled spark, they premiered a new track, “Angels & Mercy,” and had everyone singing along to “Black Water” and “Listen to the Music.”
Led by Tom Johnston, Michael McDonald, Patrick Simmons and John McFee—alongside a stellar backing band—the group proved they’ve still got plenty of groove left, whether they’re filling arenas or jamming between bookshelves.
