The Beaches brought their trademark “always summer” energy to NPR’s Tiny Desk, showcasing tracks from their sparkling 2025 album No Hard Feelings. Kicking off with the irresistible “Blame Brett,” the Toronto quartet blended new-wave pop-rock about love (good, bad and queer) with a steadfast refusal to let the party die. Highlights included the brooding banger “Can I Call You in the Morning?” and the slow-burn anthem “Lesbian of the Year,” inspired by guitarist Leandra Earl’s personal coming-out journey.
Over five songs—“Blame Brett,” “Can I Call You in the Morning?,” “Lesbian of the Year,” “Edge of the Earth” and the epic closer “Last Girls at the Party”—Jordan Miller’s powerhouse vocals and the band’s tight chemistry proved that The Beaches never overstay their welcome. This set perfectly captures their knack for crafting catchy, defiant anthems that keep summer vibes alive, even as the days get darker.
