The All-American Rejects brought their early-aughts anthems to the Aspen Ideas Festival, kicking off on a makeshift grassy stage near the campus entrance under occasional Colorado sun flares. Lead singer Tyson Ritter went barefoot, joked about catching their breath at nearly 8,000 feet, then delivered a high-altitude set packed with “Dirty Little Secret,” “There’s a Place,” “Gives You Hell” and “Move Along.”
Despite the thin air and nearby traffic noise, the band’s performance felt fresh and energetic, supported by a tight crew—director Mito Habe-Evans, editor Nickolai Hammar and an all-star Aspen Institute production team—who turned the dusty Meadows Trail backdrop into a memorable live video experience.
