Tame Impala’s Acoustic Tiny Desk Triumph
When Kevin Parker rolled into NPR’s Tiny Desk, he ditched the usual studio sheen and went fully acoustic—much to the delight (and surprise) of everyone involved. The band stripped down cuts old and new—from the twangy “Loser” to the live debut of “Dracula,” where Parker’s falsetto and harmonies rang out crisp and reverb-free—recalling the intimate charm of Tiny Desk’s early days.
They rounded out the set with fan favorites “Borderline” and “New Person, Same Old Mistakes,” proving that even in a humble corner of the NPR offices, Tame Impala’s psychedelic magic translates beautifully without the extra bells and whistles.
