NPR Music: Robert Plant: Tiny Desk Concert

Robert Plant’s Tiny Desk set kicked off with a cheeky nod to Live Aid—no monitors, just raw vocals—and proved that his voice only gains depth with time. Swapping Zeppelin’s arena swagger for the intimate folk-blues of his new album Saving Grace, he dives into everything from the traditional spiritual “Gospel Plough” to the tear-jerking psych-rock of Moby Grape.

Joined by a lean band packing accordion, banjo, cello and harmonica, Plant breezes through “Higher Rock,” Low’s “Everybody’s Song,” “It’s a Beautiful Day Today” and a reimagined “Gallows Pole,” showing that even stripped-down, his music still soars.
