Oklou’s Tiny Desk Concert
Fresh off a transatlantic flight (plus a five-month-old in tow), Oklou—aka Marylou Mayniel—landed in New York to reimagine four tracks from her debut album, Choke Enough, with an eight-piece choir. Stripping away all the heavy synths and autotune, they leaned on piano, guitar, a seven-foot marimba and even bubble-wrap sound effects to keep things intimate yet adventurous.
Joined by arranger-producer Casey MQ, Oklou unveils acoustic folk versions of “ict,” “blade bird” and a slowed-down “harvest sky” (with recorder!), plus “what’s good,” a sneak-preview from her upcoming deluxe release. It’s a cozy, creative spin on her usual electronic flair.
