clipping. turned the NPR Tiny Desk into a futuristic junkyard, rigging MIDI-driven robots to tap and vibrate thrift-store finds—bottles, mugs, pizza boxes and more—alongside harmonium, piano and fretless bass. Producers Jonathan Snipes and William Hutson spent months curating the perfect clinks and clangs to reconstruct their signature hip-hop deconstructions, while Daveed Diggs effortlessly rapped over the delightfully chaotic soundscape.
Their set, spanning cuts from 2014’s CLPPNG to 2025’s Dead Channel Sky, even featured guest turntablist Kid Koala on “Night of Heaven” and “Work Work.” It’s a testament to clipping.’s ethos: something thrilling and beautiful can rise from the noise and debris of everyday life.
