Ustad Naseeruddin Saami and The Saami Brothers turned KEXP’s studio into a Sufi sanctuary on September 4, 2025, performing “Rain Bina Jag Dohki” live. With throat-tingling vocals from Saami, Muhammad Rauf and Urooj Khan, harmonium riffs from Rauf and Ahmed Ghani, Pratyush Goberdhan’s haunting sarangi, plus tight tabla and chorus work, the session feels like an intimate journey through centuries-old tradition.
Behind the scenes, host Darek Mazzone kept the conversation flowing while Kevin Suggs (audio engineer) and Matt Ogaz (mastering) made sure every nuance was crystal clear. Cameras by Jim Beckmann, Carlos Cruz, Scott Holpainen, Luke Knecht and Ettie Wahl (with Scott on edit duty) captured it all. Craving more?
