Ustad Naseeruddin Saami & The Saami Brothers Live on KEXP

Ustad Naseeruddin Saami and his talented crew transformed KEXP’s studio into a Raag Bhairavi sanctuary on September 4, 2025. Saami’s commanding vocals floated over harmonium duets from Muhammad Rauf and Ahmed Ghani, while Pratyush Goberdhan’s sarangi and the tabla magic of Azeem Jawwad and Naseem Ahmed added vibrant layers. The chorus vocals from Mohiuddin Nizami and Muhammad Jawad rounded out the immersive Khayal Alaap experience.

Behind the scenes, host Darek Mazzone guided the session, Kevin Suggs captured the pristine audio, and Matt Ogaz handled mastering. Jim Beckmann, Carlos Cruz, Scott Holpainen, Luke Knecht & Ettie Wahl manned the cameras, with Scott Holpainen weaving it all together in the edit. Craving more?
