On May 13, 2025, KEXP welcomed genre-benders The Bad Plus into their Seattle studio for a raw, in-the-moment take on “Carrier.” Anchored by Reid Anderson’s bass, Dave King’s drums, Ben Monder’s guitar and Chris Speed’s sax, the quartet delivers their signature blend of intricate improvisation and infectious grooves.
Behind the scenes, host John Gilbreath steered the session while Kevin Suggs handled audio engineering and Matt Ogaz mastered the final cut. A team of videographers—Jim Beckmann, Carlos Cruz, Leah Franks and Luke Knecht—captured the performance, with Beckmann also taking on editing duties.
