Saul Williams, Carlos Niño & Friends completely improvise their session at the KEXP studio (recorded September 26, 2025), blending Williams’s spoken-word vocals and shaker with Niño’s bells, chimes, cymbals, percussion—and even some backing vocals—while Aaron Shaw weaves in flute, soprano and tenor sax for an unpredictable, genre-defying jam.

Hosted by Larry Mizell Jr., the set comes to life thanks to Kevin Suggs’s engineering, Julian Martlew’s mastering, and a four-camera shoot (Jim Beckmann, Carlos Cruz, Scott Holpainen & Jonathan Jacobson) expertly edited by Beckmann to deliver a vivid snapshot of experimental groove.
