Weval just made their Cercle Records debut with the live version of “ON,” premiered at Cercle Odyssey Paris. Born from a spontaneous soundcheck jam in Portland, the track unfolds in a hopeful, slightly melancholic groove, complete with delicate chords, dreamy textures, re-recorded vocals and an extended club version that’s ready to set any dancefloor alight.
The Dutch duo—Harm Coolen and Merijn Scholte Albers—have been crafting this buzzing, melodic electronic-meets-downtempo sound since dropping their self-titled debut on Kompakt in 2016. Their knack for cinematic atmospheres and live-musician flourishes just keeps growing, and “ON” is another knockout example.
