What have you been listening to lately?

Caught an old friend peeping my Linkedin profile today so now I'm catching up on their latest music thing.

One day (soon? @mikeydorje ๐Ÿ‘€) we will have a pretty Bandcamp embed for the community.

Until then...Dekalb Works (via Bandcamp, the way Dan wanted me to listen to them) for anyone interested:

And a Spotify embed for anyone who just wants to save a click:

Your turn!

This is a playlist I've been maintaining since around 2018 I think. It's been a while since I updated it so I just gave it a quick refresh with some new tunes I've been listening to. @jess Dekalb Works fits the vibe nicely so I added a track. Some of my music and music I've contributed to is in there as well (Loopsy Dazy, Loop Alias, Tiiiger, O3M)

+1 to bandcamp, I'll usually try to link to that if its available.

That 29 speedway is excellent, thanks for sharing. I feel like artists that can figure out the low end to thump without getting muddy is what makes electronic music sound 'polished'.

I've skirted the edges of being involved in some avant garde/experimental/noise stuff (not that anything I do is particularly experimental) through an org in Columbus called the Fuse Factory, have seen some very neat acts at the performances they host. This one I've stayed in touch with and hope to do something together combining the electronic with the organic, love their patches they've built and they get a ton of mileage out of various arpeggiators and all that.

For me this weekend is going to be new Vildhjarta album (swedish hyper-dissonant progmetal, sort of the originators of the "thall" sound if you want to be a trve nerd about it) and the surprise drop of Demon Daze - 10 Years Later by 'sports.' (midwest emo, just a fun trio, they haven't really been active for a half dozen years but have been quietly getting back together and are doing a few festivals this summer. I did a piano & vocal rework of their most popular song that's included on the re-release, so that was a cool-but-stressful opportunity earlier this year).
